CORD Coalition Coordinator

School Community Youth Collaborative has been serving the youth of Montezuma County since 1999. Our mission is to support youth on their path to healthy adulthood, and our vision is that all youth are valued and thriving members of our community. We live our shared SCYC values of passion, integrity, teamwork, community, flexibility, creativity, fun, open-mindedness, education, self-care, and youth voice.


Our Coalition On Responsible Driving works to reduce instances of impaired driving in the southwest region through messaging, expanding transportation options, and giving people the tools and knowledge to make healthy choices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of all Persistent Drunk Driving activities in La Plata County

  • Using the Persistent Drunk Driving Strategic Plan ensures all expectations are met in La Plata County and that outcomes and deadlines are met in a timely manner.

  • Carry out all aspects associated with ride Responsible in La Plata County, including; event planning, coordinator, sponsorship, and oversight of Ride Responsible Booth and Ride Responsible Zone

  • Coordinate with current Ride Responsible partners on effective partnership opportunities while recruiting new Ride Responsible members.

  • Attend regular meetings with the regional Coalition on Responsible Driving, Colorado Restaurant and Bar Association Durango Chapter, and other supporting or new partners

  • Assist in the development of next year’s statement of work as well as any other CDOT requirements

  • Collaborate with contract evaluator to monitor and track implementation activities

  • Work with Director for other grant tracking requirements

  • Develop media campaigns in collaboration with SCYC and CTC aimed at raising awareness of the harms and consequences of impaired driving in La Plata, Montezuma, and Dolores 


Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in community collaboration or event planning

  • Must have technology competency

  • Ability to meet diverse community needs and have a demonstrated ability to creatively problem solve

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to the needs/requirements of funders, and fiscal agent

  • Ability to work as part of a team and recognize situations that require teamwork

  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate and recognize situations where confidentiality should be maintained

  • Must have reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • ​Knowledge of La Plata County Communities

  • Experience in organizing, scheduling, and facilitating events

  • Experience recruiting and inspiring volunteers

  • Experience and comfort communicating across many community sectors with diverse populations in the county

  • Ability to conceptualize short-term goals and long-term goals

  • Comfortable speaking to groups and scheduling of one on one meetings

  • Experience with social media and simple website maintenance

 

Language Skills

  • ​Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, in oral and written format

  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as grants, training materials, contracts, and other related documents

​

Mathematic Skills

  • Ability to record receipts/documents for expenditures

​

Reasoning Ability

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to effectively and clearly plan and implement projects, volunteer efforts and maintain related documents

 

Physical Requirements

  • ​Position involves some standing and long periods of sitting, including driving.

  • Must be able to transport and set up materials for large meetings, including food, presentation materials, and training and/or informative materials

  • Adequate hearing/speaking is required to hear/talk with all individuals, facilitate meetings, and to use telephones on a consistent basis

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment; ability to work from home the majority of the time, and must be willing to attend in-person meetings and events as required

  • Work will be focused on La Plata County with work happening in Montezuma and Dolores Counties as well

  • Attend meetings, network, conduct workshops and education sessions, coordinate events, and facilitate meetings

Computer Skills

  • Must be able to write reports and log coalition activities as needed in Google Drive

  • Must be proficient or able to quickly learn web page content management systems, graphic design applications, and photo programs

 

Attendance Requirements

  • Must attend required trainings

  • Must be able to attend Coalition meetings and other related meetings located throughout La Plata County and the surrounding area

  • Schedules are flexible and the nature of this work requires work on some evenings, holidays, and weekends

 

Compensation

  • 32-40 hours/week $20-25/hour​

  • Hybrid work schedule, with most work being remote; and the ability to work in person for meetings and events

  • Simple IRA available through Onward! A Legacy Foundation

  • Reimbursement for phone up to $50.00

  • 120 hours of vacation/year and sick time accrued at 8 hours/month

  • 1 week of paid vacation for Spring Break and 1 week of paid vacation for the week between Christmas and New Years
